Canopy is a community in Pontianak that actively organizes discussion-sharing spaces. Canopy Cafe is crowded, the space is fit for discussion, gathering with friends and family.

In the back area, there is a gallery which, as long as I am here, almost every night it becomes a space for Pontianak youth artworks to be staged and appreciated.

On 22 June, Canopy school students presented the result of their research, attended by their parents. At the beginning of the event, the students sang: “Sungai Kapuas punye cerite, bile kite minum airnye…” (Kapuas water has a story, when we drink its water…). Hearing it as if it is given a welcome greeting.

This community is also engaged in ecotourism; making books, videos about natural beauty, and the culture of people in West Kalimantan.
This is the place where I go home while in Pontianak.
